Finally finished writing up my first solo play of the awesome Untold: Adventures Await

This is set in the world of Scooby-Doo (using the Scooby Doo “StoryWorlds” dice set), but with a new character, independent from the usual Mystery Incorporated, Scooby gang. I included all of the Series Guide, Episode Guide, and Character Profile as well as the actual play.

Hope you enjoy Ghosts vs. Grimwhistle Episode 1: The Wicked Witch Doctor!

Well I finally got around to learning the rules for Heavy Gear Arena. In the early morning game I started today there has still been a lot of referencing the manual. That being said, it has been the most satisfying mech combat I’ve ever used.

Here we have the upstart Badland Circuit. Their combat arena is a bit haphazard, but the quality of the competitors has managed to draw the sponsors despite that.

Competing today are the season favorites, The Adders piloting a Paxton Gladiator and a Territorial Arms Black Mamba. They face of with the newest team to make the pro-league, the Fire Ferrets (not affiliated with probenders). The Ferrets are running a Territorial Arms Dartjäger and a NorthCo Hunter XMG. Whoever is backing the new kids isn’t afraid to layout the credits!

It’s been a careful start, the Adders don’t underestimate anyone and have been waiting for the rookies to make a mistake. But the Ferrets have things to do and have been puting the Hunter’s Panzerfaust to good use while the Dartjäger heads for the jump ramp.

It’s been a lot of fun so far, hopefully I can for ish it up this afternoon.

Seems legit!

Interested in trying a gritty-ish, PbtA-inspired fantasy RPG that supports GM-less play?

Ironsworn began as a PbtA reskin, but it’s evolved into something I would say is more PbtA-adjacent. I call it “Inspired by and borrowing liberally from the Apocalypse” (IbaBLftA?). It’s built on moves, but leverages ala carte character creation with printable asset cards instead of playbooks. It’s also got it’s own flavor of dice mechanics and some resource tracking mechanisms. Finally, it’s built from the ground up to support solo and co-op GM-less campaigns.

The preview edition is a complete, free game. I’d love to hear what people think.

Wanted to share this short article from Jon Peterson about the invention of randomly generated dungeons.

It’s easy to forget the importance of other people and groups in early RPGs, especially since D&D dominates the narrative (or for a younin’ like me who is looking at this as history).

It’s been coming for some time, but tonight’s session marked my first Heart (Harm to a secondary character), and since I drew the highest valued heart in the deck right off I figured I’d lead in with a doozy. Enjoy!
