The heroes are stuck by the menace of a giant crab. An UNE NPC plays the “dea ex machina” to get them out of trouble.

#SGAM2017

Yesterday I tried out my X-Wing solo rules with my newly arrived base game. This re-ignited my desire for miniature tabletop skirmish gaming. Back in the day I played a lot of Star Wars Miniatures (the skirmish game from Wizards) scenarios and eventually came up with my own system of scenario and solo rules for solo and co-operative play.

I played with two friends and we played cooperative against the scenario with automated opponents.

So, for SGAM2017, I am sharing the rules with those of you who still have Star Wars miniatures and have played the skirmish game. The following package includes the general scenario rules that apply to all scenarios, a sample scenario that uses the rules and finally the automated opponent rules you need to play against AI enemies.

These rules work equally well if you want to play the old classic version of the D&D miniatures game (not the newer 4E version) since Star Wars was basically a reskin of those rules and shares a lot of the mechanics.

Have fun.

This week has not been a productive one for gaming. However I was able to set the busy schedule aside this morning for a bit. I’ve moved on to Frostgrave with my Lego “Bits” scale games.

I have my Tundra lead Sigilist warband facing off against the Elementalist Azriel and his troop.

I found a pack of flameless tea light while looking for something else, and for some reason is sparked my imagination. In Frostgrave you are fighting other magically inclined scavengers in the ruins of a once great city. In this continuation of my campaign the rival bands have ventured into the Everlight district, where the great Elemental Spirits were harnessed for all manner of purposes.

The minis themselves were fun to make, since I had bigger versions to base off of. I particularly liked how Tundra’s Warhammer turned out.

Pics below, and I’ll share more if anything interesting happens over the course of the match up. I expect it’ll be talking up the table for a few days, since responsibilities can only be postponed so long.
