The Undercity: Session 6. Another expedition into the ruins beneath the City of Spires for my Labyrinth Lord crew.
After earning nearly 600 gold pieces during their last delve, the party has spent five days resting and exploring the City of Spires. Now, after sweltering beneath the sun for nearly a week, the call of darkness beckons them back.
Index Card RPG includes a variety of play testing trials so you can see if you understand the rules. I think I am well on my way to grasping these rules.
Character: Vlad Teppish, a 500 year old Necrocrat Nightstalker.
Vlad was spending an evening doing what he enjoyed best – watching a theater performance. It was a production of the 1001 Nights, one of his favourites (he’d seen it more than 1000 times). Suddenly there was screaming from outside. Mostly annoyed with the interruption, Vlad walked outside to see a lot of people crying and pointing at the sky. A flaming ball was hurtling towards the city. Upon closer inspection, it wasn’t a ball at all but a huge green man.
CRASH. The man hit the ground, killing dozens of bystanders. Vlad recognised him as Yardash, God of the Wild, though why he was he he had no idea. Vlad ran over to him and questioned his coming. Yardash was silent, but suddenly brought his giant sword down, slicing a house in half. Vlad drew his rapier and attempted to turn it into an undead snake, but something caused the spell to fizzle out. The god brought his sword down once again, but this time on Vlad, sundering the ground in hot flame. Vlad flew into a wall, badly injured (in game terms, all his attributes had just been set to 0). He summoned all of his powers to raise ten corpses from the dead and led then against the god (in game terms, he used 3 of his 4 shatterdice to ensure the challenge was met). They crawled over him, gnashing and gnawing. Seeing an opportunity, Vlad ran up a wall, spun in the air and decapitated Yardash (using his final shatterdie), landing in a cloud of dust.
He had killed a god and it wasn’t even suppertime.
The Undercity: Session 5. The party returns to the area beneath the City of Spires in search of wealth in this solo Labyrinth Lord campaign session.
After spending the better part of a week recuperating above ground in the City of Spires, the party has prepared itself to return to the Undercity. Better equipped and fully healed, the party descends again with a goal of further mapping the top layer of…
Solo dungeon crawl game for a 6-year old (not in school yet):
My daughter takes great interest in my fantasy and solo rpg games. She likes to watch and roll dice for me so I figured I create an own game for her that she can play by herself. Since she just starts school in August she cant read yet but she does fine with numbers, so it had to be visual. I made a pocketmod and the title page is the main exploration table. The goal is to go through a dungeon with six rooms, randomly determining what is in every room (monsters, treasure, trap, healing potion or a combination). You start every dungeon with six health. Potions give two health, treasure is d6 coins, traps deal 1 damage which can be avoided by rolling 5+ on d6 (the game uses only d6). Monsters have 2 to 4 health. You fight them by rolling d6: 1-3 the monster hits you and you cross off one health. 4+ you hit the monster and cross off one health from the monster. To keep track green dots are monsters, brown dots are treasure, blue dots are potions and arrows are traps. Once a room is clear you check it off and go to the next room. She had a blast and plowed through two dungeons…
