About Solo-A-Module Month

What began as a post where I showed my dissatisfaction about how to approach ready-made adventures is already beginning to produce great results; I have been following and reading every post, be it here or on members’ websites and blogs, and the way I approach the adventures has improved absurdly after these readings. I started today, in addition to my Quill’s actual plays, which is currently my great passion as solo RPG, playing the adventure “B4 The Lost City” using So1um as Oracle and a brazilian OSR System called “Pocket Dragon” (with very very light-rules), and the results were extremely satisfying.

I would like to thank everyone who is posting, because I learned a lot through these posts.

Especially this one from Spencer Salyer:

Black Blade of the Demon King – Session 2 is live. Can anyone recommend some dead simple rules for sanity/madness (ie. no tracking points)?

I swear, I don’t now how some of you find the time… I’ve spent days just moving inches on this. Ah well, it’s fun, though. 🙂

I’ve been busy, so gaming of all varieties has been a bit slow. That has not stopped me from daydreaming and turning over ideas. Once of my new projects is to greatly simplify the tools I need on hand hand to feel comfortable. Right now I’m working out how much mileage I can get out of a deck of cards. Which lead me to a new oracle, both in our terminology and the more esoteric variety.

The intent, based off what I’ve found online, was Cartomancy (divination) with playing cards. However, after looking over this chart I think that It might have a lot to offer a solo player.

In addition to the Oracle, I’m looking into various rule sets that use Card resolution and conversions of others that don’t. My hope is that in time I can play just as comfortably with a single deck of playing cards as I do currently with a my wide array.

If anyone has any leads, ideas, or experiences with playing card oracles or game mechanics I’d love to hear about them.

Session 3 of Keep on the Shadowfell. The party heads out toward the burial site and is ambushed. This is a scripted encounter and I ran it as written. Actually I don’t mind running the encounters as described. The variation comes through the things that are added as I consult my oracle for certain facts or actions.

Doom of Daggerdale

Doom of Daggerdale

Solo a Module Month was just announced on the Lonewolf Solo G+ community. What to do? I don’t have a huge repository of modules, but I have some. I’ve been thinking about Wolfgang Bauer’s Doom of Daggerdale, which is an old one I’ve had that I know pretty well. It also fits a setting that know well, so that helps.

Two questions to answer:

How does one play a module solo?

What tools/gizmos/rules will I use to attempt this? #Solo-a-Module

Hello guys! In celebration of the ” Solo A-Module Month” in the Lone Wolf G+ Community, a month dedicated to the solo game of published adventures, I made this humble version of the great adventure “The Tomb of Horrors”, for Quill!

Play a published module solo! Post an Actual Play! Answer the age old question: How do you play a published module solo!

I created a “Solo-a-Module Month” Category. Although “March Module Month” was suggested, I wanted to keep the month out of it (like SGAM). Feel free to post there as well as go beyond March.
