Still tinkering around with things, but here’s your #SGAM website: http://sologamingmonth.com/

Had a minor emergency this morning so I didn’t as much done as I’d planned (or the lists I promised, but those are forthcoming shortly). I will get a social media “feed” going that lists all the appropriately hashtagged posts, as well as list Chris Stieha’s instructions on the /sgam2017 page.

Let me know if I can change or add anything (ie. the /about page), any ideas you may have, or if I can add you to the project on GitHub.

This is the work in progress thread for No GM’s Sky, a solo framework for playing explorers using Traveller/Cepheus (but it should be easy to port to other game systems.) It’s an odd mix of No Man’s Sky and Oregon Trail. πŸ™‚

All the talk about CRGE lately has me wanting to give it another look after having first dismissed it. One thing…

All the talk about CRGE lately has me wanting to give it another look after having first dismissed it. One thing about it that turned me off about it was the multiple d100 tables that also required math (surges) before I could interpret a result.

Maybe some ideas from the Morning Coffee Solo Variations (MCSV) Mythic hack could help. (Linked below for the unfamiliar)

Instead of the three existing d100 tables for yes/no questions, we could roll two dice for each question:

A d6 (pipped, to tell it apart) for yes or no, scaleable to likelihood by asking, “How likely on a scale of 1-5 is ‘yes’ the answer?” Equal to or less than the result is a yes.

– 1 V. Unlikely

– 2 Unlikely

– 3 50/50

– 4 Likely

– 5 V. Likely

With that d6, also roll a “surge die” that starts as a d20 and steps down in size (d12, 10, 8, 6, 4) each time your roll produces an unaltered result.

– 1 And

– 2 And

– 3 But

– 4 Unexpectedly

– 5+ Unaltered result

Altered results reset the surge die to d20.

I haven’t had a chance to try this yet. Will report back if I get some solo play with it, but feel free to try it on your own the CRGE’s d100 tables turned you off.

Forthright has surprisingly fast combat. Scene 4 was over pretty quickly, which left scene 5 to basically cover the “denouement.” Not exactly what I expected, but I appreciate games that don’t turn combat into 30 to 45 minute slogs. I think I might have to kick it around a little more for SGAM.

Shared Story Structure: Week 1

One possible theme for SGAM 2017 is the shared story seed and elements. With that said, I used Todd Zircher’s Zero Tarot (http://www.tangent-zero.com/zero_tarot/zero_tarot.htm) to create a set of images that we can all draw from to drive our story.

Interpret these how you will. Do they set up the story? Do they describe the story arc? Do you focus on the images? The names? The interpretations? It is all up to you!

Again, feel free to join in, but don’t feel obligated to.
